Week 6 Dolphin News
It was a busy, but fun week! Special thanks to Alison Hudson for working so hard as our HOA Board Pool Rep to get the phone fixed and the pool back open! Thanks to our Social Committee for the fantastic Luau/Foam Party and thanks to everyone that attended our last Saturday Clinic!
There’s less than 3 weeks left in our swim season–can you believe it? Three meets down, three to go!
🐬This Week’s Schedule
- Monday: Regular Practice Schedule
- Tuesday: HOME vs. Hawthorne (Theme: Pirates and Mermaids)(more info below)
- Wednesday: Regular Practice Schedule
- Thursday: Regular Practice Schedule
🐬Meet #4: Tuesday, June 30th at HOME vs. Hawthorne.
- Our swimmers need to be ready to warm up promptly at 5:00pm. Be at the pool before that time (ideally 4:30-4:45) so that your swimmer can be ready with their goggles and number.
- Our theme is Pirates and Mermaids. If you’d like to participate, please arrive on deck in your pirate and mermaid outfits, but wear your team suit for the meet!
- If you are signed up for Meet Set-Up–please arrive by 3:45-4:00 and Parking & Greeter–please arrive by 4:30! All other volunteers, please sign in at the volunteer table between 5:00-5:30. We’ll have our volunteer meeting at 5:45pm.
- We recommend bringing camp chairs, extra towels, and things to keep your kids busy in between races. Please be sure to set-up on the far side of the pool. We reserve the area under the pergola (near concessions) and around the shallow end for the visiting team.
- Please remind your children about acceptable behavior during the meet--no roughhousing or aggressive behavior, please!
- Please consider walking or carpooling to the meet. If you do drive, please park at the top of the hill. We reserve the parking area closest to the pool for the away team. Feel free to drop off your swimmer and then park. Please also park facing into the natural area vs parallel to the street to fit more cars along the road. Please DO NOT park on our neighbors lawns or on top of the pink flags!
- Support our team by purchasing concessions! Grey Dog Ice Cream will be back to serve delicious cold treats!
- The 6 and unders will have a butterfly cupcake race immediately following their breaststroke races. Coaches will be in the lanes with the 6 and unders while they swim “butterfly.” At the end they will receive a cupcake. This is not mandatory; only swimmers that want to try for a cupcake are welcome to swim! Since they do not officially swim butterfly, they are free to leave after they finish swimming breaststroke or after the cupcake race. However, please check with Coach Charlotte before leaving to make sure your swimmer is not swimming in a final freestyle relay before you leave.
- We’ll host another exciting Coaches & Parents Relay after the butterfly cupcake race. If you are interested in swimming, please let Kristen Oakley know ASAP at 919-623-7092. (If you already spoke with Kristen about joining the relay this week, please send her a text to confirm!)
- All swimmers in main events will get their ribbons at practice this week; 10 & under swimmers in heats will get a ribbon at the meet.
- Not Attending: The following swimmers are already marked as “not attending” for this meet. If this information is incorrect or if your child gets sick the day of the meet or something else comes up, please let us know ASAP. Coach Charlotte sets the lineup on Sunday evenings and it is really hard to make day-of changes to our line-up! Coach Charlotte @ 984-269-9326 or Jill @ 757-580-4021 or Joanna @ 973-670-0923. If you do not see your child listed below, but you will NOT be attending the meet, please mark your child as “not attending” in Swimtopia before 6pm tonight!

🐬Pasta Night/Movie Night: FYI for your calendars, Pasta Night/Movie Night scheduled for July 6th has been cancelled. We decided it was best not to have a late night event scheduled for the day before a meet. Thanks for understanding!
🐬 TSA Championship Meet on Sunday, July 19th–Anyone can swim in this optional meet! Swimmers compete against all teams in the TSA in one last, big, fun meet! Coaches will be there to guide and cheer on our swimmers—it’s always a fun day at Triangle Aquatic Center (TAC)! For more information, please check out this flyer. If interested in swimming, please text Coach Charlotte @ 984-269-9326 AND Jill @ 757-580-4021 ASAP and let us know what strokes your swimmer would like to swim (6 and unders up to 2 events, 8 and ups up to 3 events). We’ll send you a waiver to complete once you’ve committed. The deadline to register is Wednesday, July 8th! We can also fill relay teams if we have enough swimmers.
🐬End of Season Party: Please mark your calendars and RSVP! The party will be held on Thursday, July 16th from 6-8pm at the Hunters Landing Pool. More details to come!
