Week 5 Dolphin News PLEASE READ

Please read through this entire email! Important information about this week's Meet is included!

🐬Meet #3: Our next meet is HOME vs. Crabtree on Tuesday, June 24th. Please plan to arrive by 4:45 at the latest, so swimmers can be ready to warm up in the water at 5:00!

    • SwimTopia: Please check your swimmers attendance and mark ā€œattendingā€ or ā€œnot attendingā€ on SwimTopia by 5pm tonight (scroll down to Upcoming>>click on Crabtree HOME>>click on Meet Signup>>Choose attending or not attending for each swimmer). We really prefer to have parent confirmation, rather than assuming attendance (Swimmers are assumed as ā€œattendingā€ in SwimTopia which is not always the case and it often causes us to have to make day of line-up changes which can be a huge headache!). Please confirm your swimmers attendance by 5pm as Coach Ben sets the lineup on Sunday evenings!
    • Seating: We will set up on the far side of the pool and reserve the area to the right of the tan umbrella, under the pergola near concessions and the deck space near the announcer, for the visiting team. Please utilize all of the extra deck space we now have all the way over to the pump house and please stay on the LEFT side of the large tan umbrella. This will leave space for our visiting team to spread out and not be cramped on their side. Please also consider bringing your own chairs in order to leave the majority of our deck chairs for the visiting team to use. Crabtree is listed as having a large team–which means we anticipate having a large amount of families from their team attending. They will need the space and we now have our own space to utilize–so it’s a win/win!
    • Parking: Please consider walking to the pool if you are able, to free up spaces for parking. If you are driving, please be sure to park at the top of the hill to leave room for the visiting team to park close to the pool. We extend this courtesy to the visiting team at each home meet. Park with your car facing inward toward the natural area to allow for as many cars as possible to park. Feel free to drop off your swimmer at the gate and then go park!
    • 6 & Unders: 6 and Unders do not swim butterfly, so they are free to leave after they finish swimming breaststroke, if they are not swimming up in a final relay. Please check with Coach Ben before leaving to make sure your swimmer is not swimming up in the final relay before you leave. There will not be a butterfly cupcake race this week.
    • Volunteering: Please check your volunteer status for Tuesday’s meet. If you are Set-Up, please arrive by 4:00. If you are parking, please arrive by 4:30. Volunteers should check in with Elizabeth or Lee Ellen at the volunteer table when you arrive. All volunteers will meet promptly at 5:45 with our TSA Rep to review all positions.
    • Concessions: We will be offering our usual assortment of concessions and encourage your family to support our team while enjoying some delicious food!
    • Not Attending this meet: The following families have marked themselves ā€œnot attendingā€ this meet. If this information is incorrect or if your child gets sick the day of the meet or something else comes up, please let us know ASAP: Coach Ben @ 919-889-4232 or Jill @ 757-580-4021 or Joanna @ 973-670-0923. Coach Ben sets the lineup on Sundays and it’s really, really hard to make day-of-meet changes!

    🐬Practice Reminders:

    • Attending more practices = better technique and endurance = better swimming!
    • Please remember to keep an eye on your children during practices–especially siblings of swimmers! If your children are using the blocks or are playing in the deep end of the pool in an empty lane, please position yourself near them so you can keep a close eye on them. Our coaches are busy with swimmers in practices and cannot also keep an eye on extra children. Also, please remind your swimmers to not interrupt the practice that is occurring while they are playing. We’ve had a lot of swimmers interrupting coaches, hanging on lane lines, and playing in the deep end during practices. We love that they want to practice on the blocks and/or get comfortable in the deep end, but would also love more parent eyes on them when they are doing so!
    • If using the shared toys, please return them to the bin when finished! Please scan the deck and pool before leaving to return any toys your children were using. All shared toys and toy bins will be removed from the deck during our next meet as the toys were quite a distraction during the last meet.

🐬Movie Night: We have decided to not reschedule movie night as there just isn’t time left in the season to do so. We are sorry about this but look forward to our remaining team events (see Upcoming Events below or on SwimTopia)!

🐬End of Season Party: The Gorhams, one of our new families from The Pointe at Falls Lake Neighborhood, have graciously reserved their pool for our use for the end of season party scheduled for Friday, July 18th from 6-8pm. Thank you Gorham Family! We will send out more information soon, but please mark your calendars! Coaches will be passing out medals and trophies during the party and swimmers will also receive a copy of the team picture and a goody bag! More details to follow. We always enjoy wrapping up our season with a fun party–and it will be here before we know it! Hope to see you all there!
